Dr. John Scott

Dr. John Scott, a distinguished pediatric cardiologist and board-certified clinical informatics specialist, brings over 30 years of expertise in military and veterans' healthcare. Since April 2020, he has been with the Veterans Health Administration, driving data management strategy to enhance VHA’s reliability and foster DoD-VA collaboration. Dr. Scott’s illustrious military career includes leadership roles in pediatrics, cardiology, quality management, and information management within the Army Medical Department. He played pivotal roles in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health Affairs and the Defense Health Agency, shaping records and data management policy. His tenure includes positions as Acting Director of Data Management and Analytics at VHA, Data Management at the Defense Health Agency, Informatics Policy Advisor at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, and CMIO roles at Joint Task Force Capital Medical and Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Scott’s career is marked by significant contributions to data strategy, interagency coordination, and healthcare informatics, underscored by numerous awards and publications.
