Shane Barney

Shane Barney, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS), spearheads the agency’s cutting-edge IT security program, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its networks, systems, and data against internal and external threats. Before his current role, Shane served as Deputy ISD Chief and Deputy CISO, including a stint as acting CISO. His career at USCIS includes leading the Cyber Intelligence Branch, where he managed classified operations, communication security, insider threat, and forensic programs. Prior to his federal tenure, Shane was instrumental as a contractor in shaping the technical direction for intelligence and fraud detection missions. He holds two Master’s Degrees and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Vermont.
