Hi hackers! Just a quick reminder we’ll be joining our friends at Trulia tomorrow for a meetup on machine learning discussing Distributed GBM.
GBM is one of the most popular machine learning algorithms used in data mining competitions. Most of us use GBM through R implementation. However, we have recently written a distributed version for their open source h2o platform, and in the process become quite the experts on the algorithm! We are excited to share our knowledge.
Abstract
Earl Hathaway, 0xdata resident data scientist, will present on what types of problems GBM is applicable, and review recent KDD & Kaggle wins that used it.
Cliff Click, 0xdata CTO, will present about implementation and design choices of a Distributed GBM.
Schedule
6:30 – 7:00pm Social (food + beer served)

At H2O.ai, democratizing AI isn’t just an idea. It’s a movement. And that means that it requires action. We started out as a group of like minded individuals in the open source community, collectively driven by the idea that there should be freedom around the creation and use of AI.
Today we have evolved into a global company built by people from a variety of different backgrounds and skill sets, all driven to be part of something greater than ourselves. Our partnerships now extend beyond the open-source community to include business customers, academia, and non-profit organizations.
Make data and AI deliver meaningful and significant value to your organization with our platform.
